Hi there, my name is Jess, and I would like to warmly welcome you to The Counselling and Psychotherapy Harbour.
I’m passionate about supporting clients to find their inner peace. As humans we can be messy and complicated, vulnerable and strong. I find myself curious about human nature and how we become the people we are. We are often contradictions striving to feel good enough. I want to help people to know they are good enough.
My own personal experiences with counselling and psychotherapy led me to pursue a career in mental health. Therapy changed my life and I wanted to put something back into the field of mental health that had help me so much.
My journey began with a degree in psychology and continued with training and a masters degree in psychotherapeutic counselling.
I have spent the last four years working within the charitable sector providing specialist counselling to clients who have experienced trauma through sexual violence. I set up the Counselling and Psychotherapy Harbour to offer short and long term counselling and psychotherapy to adults who have a wide range of presenting challenges they wish to address.
Prior to this I spent 10 years working in the health and social care sector. I was a support working in a variety of settings working with neurodivergent people, people with learning difficulties and people with mental health conditions.
Throughout my personal experiences and training in mental health, I’ve seen the stigma associated with seeking support. While reaching out can be anxiety-provoking, I believe there should be no shame in it. I’m committed to destigmatizing mental health.
I am also continuously undertaking additional training courses as part of my ongoing continuing professional development.
